Shelley Malil, the guy who played Haziz in The 40 Year Old Virgin, was arrested yesterday outside San Diego after stabbing his ex-girlfriend . . . 20 fucking times. Haziz arrived to his ex’s home late Sunday night and found her with another man in the backyard. He grabbed a knife, stabbed her, and then chased her through the home, also stabbing her male companion. The victim is currently in critical condition at a local hospital but is expected to survive. Her two kids were home at the time of the attack. A neighbor told San Diego’s KNSD:

“Her chin was almost entirely cut off. She had a huge gash in her arm that looked like a really deep wound that was bleeding profusely. She asked me to hold her and I could feel a lot of gashes in her back as well.”

He stabbed her 20 times? C’mon, that seems like a bit of an exaggeration. It was probably closer to 15. Give the guy a break. Who among us has never left an ex-girlfriend or two in critical condition? Those in glass houses . . .

Batman actor Christian Bale had assault charges filed against him yesterday while in London for the British premiere of The Dark Knight. But here’s the shocker: the charges were filed by his own mother and sister. According to The Sun

He is alleged to have lashed out on Sunday night at Park Lane’s Dorchester Hotel where he has a suite. Mum Jenny, 61, and sister Sharon, 40, who lives in Dorset, went to a police station in Hampshire yesterday to lodge the allegation. The matter was referred to the Met Police. Detectives… are expected to quiz the Wales-born actor today.

Oh, please please please don’t let this be true. Oh please oh please oh please! This guy is way too cool to be that guy. And if it is true, if it has to be true, at least let it be because of some sort of method acting mishap. That his Dark Knight personae inadvertently slipped into his real life, somehow.

Update: TMZ reports that Christian was arrested today and taken in for questioning.
