Winona Ryder was loaned $125,000 worth of Bulgari jewelry to wear for the Marie Claire Awards last Sunday in Madrid. And surprise, surprise, Bulgari never got it back. Winona claims the ring and bracelet were stolen from her hotel room which is a plausible excuse for someone that wasn’t arrested for stealing $5,500 worth of designer clothes from Saks Fifth Avenue in 2001. From TMZ:

After Winona left Madrid, the bracelet and ring turned up missing. There’s a report in a French magazine saying Winona claimed she went to the front desk at the hotel and gave the jewelry to the front desk, but the surveillance cam doesn’t show her doing that. The intimation — Winona stole the bling.

In fact, we know what happened. The morning after the event, around 6:00 AM, Winona checked out of the hotel. No one from Marie Claire was around to collect the stuff, so she left everything in her hotel room.

Our sources confirm the bracelet and ring did indeed turn up missing — the dress and other stuff weren’t taken. We’re told Winona never said she had taken the jewels to the front desk, and whoever planted the story may be covering up for someone who had access to the room after she left.

So… security cameras can be used to prove your innocence? Wow. Didn’t see that one coming. I’ll just be adding that to my “Reasons to Install a Hidden Camera in My Anus” list, right between “extreme impact porn market” and “irrefutable proof of alien probes.” Note to self: genius.

Winona Ryder downed a flight from Los Angeles to London yesterday after overdosing on happy pills while on the plane. The Daily Mail says:

The 37-year-old star was rushed to hospital on arrival at Heathrow and an accidental overdose of tranquillisers was today believed to be the reason.The waif-like American… collapsed twice on Flight 282 after taking too many Xantax pills, which are used to combat anxiety.

Her publicist said: ‘She did fall ill on a plane and as a precautionary measure they took her to hospital. She was there for an hour. She’s in good health. There’s no drama.’

Drama? Please! It’s Winona Ryder we’re talking about. Everyone knows that Winona has always lived a life of quiet dignity and reserve. Whether it’s ripping off a Saks’ Fifth Avenue or overdosing on a transcontinental flight, Winona always manages to maintain an air of respectability and restraint… You can see the crazy in her eyes in the header pic. She probably took 15 Xantax’s and ended up slurring something about a fairy and mittens while everyone held their wallets and purses close to their chests. Being on a flight with Winona must be scary. I’d rather be locked in an airplane bathroom with an angry badger. If I sat next to her, I’d start freaking out after she gave me her googly eyes and her half-smile and scramble to inflate that raft under my seat. But, wait. Where is it?! My god, man, where is that raft!

The media is trying to drag Winona Ryder’s good name through the mud by once again accusing her of stealing; this time from a Hollywood CVS.

A store employee is quoted as saying: “Winona had a bag of stuff, but she set off the theft alarm when she left the store. “When a security guard stopped her, he found make-up she had not paid for.”

And when she was asked about the make-up, Winona answered: “I don’t know how that happened.” The store employee added: “We took unpaid items back and she left the store.”

OK fine. So maybe she took some shit. But still, I’d hardly call that stealing. As far as I’m concerned, appropriating make-up from chain drug stores is every red-blooded woman’s right as an American. I know when I was 14; Lip Smackers didn’t pay for themselves. So what, I guess I’m a “criminal” now too?
