Hollywood salaries always seem crazy to us, but our annoyance at those $20 million paychecks is tempered when celebs like Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie donate a crapload of their money to charity. Tuesday’s 7.0 earthquake in Haiti has been devastating to the island nation, but just a day after the disaster that has left countless dead, The Jolie-Pitt Foundation has donated $1 million to emergency medical operations there. The money will fund Doctors Without Borders, and Pitt explained “We understand the first response is critical to serve the immediate needs of countless people who are now displaced from their homes, are suffering trauma, and most require urgent care.”

The couple aren’t the only ones to show their support to this cause though. Heroes star and native Haitian Jimmy Jean-Louis, whose family has been devastated by the quake, has also set up the Hollywood Unites For Haiti fund, where donations are being accepted to provide emergency assistance, shelter, medical supplies, food and water to those who require it. You can contribute directly to the fund here. Wyclef Jean, also a native Haitian, has set up Yele.org, another site where you can donate, either online or by texting the word “YELE” to 501501 to make a $5 donation. And as you may know from Facebook or other social networking sites, you can also text “HAITI” to 90999 to make a $10 donation directly to the American Red Cross. Any text donations will be billed to your cell phone. You can follow the Red Cross’ distaster relief efforts and updates on the country’s status on their Newsroom site.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt managed to drag themselves away from the kids and check out the “Inglourious Basterds” premiere in Hollywood. This does not surprise me considering the moving involves Nazi killings and the French, who couldn’t beat themselves out of a wet paper bag. After all, Angelina Jolie is a such a humanitarian, this films seems like something she would definitely want to see.
