Rapper T.I. Arrested
Oct 14, 2007 in Clifford Harris
Rapper T.I. has been arrested in Atlanta. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives arrested T.I., whose real name is Clifford Harris, on multiple weapons charges. The arrested happened after T.I. had his bodyguard try to buy machine guns and silencers for him.
During his arrest, authorities searched his Atlanta home where they found six guns in his bedroom closet. The rapper is a convicted felon on seven-year probation, thanks to a drug and illegal firearm possession charge he picked in the late 90’s. Felons are not allowed to own weapons.
T.I. will remain in custody over the weekend and will appear in court on Monday.
T.I. was scheduled to perform at the BET Hip Hop Awards on Saturday at Atlanta’s Civic Center. He was nominated for nine awards including ‘Best Live Performance’, ‘Hustler of The Year and ‘MVP Of The Year’.
According to The Associated Press, T.I. won two awards. The show’s host, comedian Katt Williams, took the stage with Wyclef Jean as a replacement for the ATL rapper to perform the song “You Know What It Is”.
T.I. was also slated to perform his other hit, “Hurt”, with Busta Rhymes and Alfamega. Busta and Alfa took to the stage without him.
Common, who tied for an award win with T.I., showed support for his fellow rapper during his acceptance speech. The two recorded a song titled “Good Life”, which was featured in T.I.’s fourth album, King.
“I salute my guy T.I., who also won, wherever he is,” Common said.
T.I. cannot buy weapons because he is a convicted felon.
