Little Monsters already know Jo Calderone is Lady Gaga‘s alter ego. What they didn’t know before last night’s Video Music Awards is that the two were an item!
“My name is Jo Calderone” the 25-year-old said, showing up in drag as part of her wild, extended pre-performance monologue. “Lady Gaga? She left me!”
Fully committed to the character for several minutes, smoking a cigarette as he/she addressing the crowd, “Jo” grew more and more animated …
“Lady Gaga is f**king crazy!” he/she said. “For example, she gets out of the bed, puts on the heels. She comes out of the bathroom dripping wet and she’s still got the heels on … And what’s with the hair?
“At first it was sexy, but now I’m just confused. I think it’s really f**king great that she’s such a star and all … but how am I supposed to shine?”
There you go. Finally, Lady Gaga sat down and belted out a soulful rendition of “You and I.” Brian May from Queen came on stage and joined her.
I guess I should give Gaga props for staying “in character” throughout the show, and for really showing commitment to the Jo character she’s created. But Jo is such a creep, and I feel like Gaga just created Jo so she could talk about how brilliant she is in the third person. IT’S ART, Y’ALL. We get it.
I didn’t watch the VMAS on Sunday night because I had better things to do like stare out the window. Luckily I didn’t miss much as one of the few exciting things to happen, and “exciting” in this case is relative, was Beyonce announcing her pregnancy. This will be her and Jay-Z’s first kid.
Beyoncé, 29, posed for photos with her hands cradling her belly, teasing, “I have a surprise!”
“I’m happy to say it’s true,” her rep confirms to PEOPLE.
Later, during the show, she performed “Love on Top,” introducing the song by telling the Nokia Theatre LA Live crowd, “I want you to stand up on your feet. I want you to feel the love that’s growing inside me.”
After her song, she unbuttoned her sparkling jacket and rubbed her stomach. The crowd roared.
I guess Beyonce isn’t heading out on tour to support her new album? Which is fine. I don’t know about you, but I don’t need to see her sing these singles live.
TMZ today published a photo of Apple’s ex-CEO Steve Jobs after his resignation which was two days ago. Jobs has been on medical leave most of 2011. In his resignation letter, Jobs said:
“I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple’s CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come.”
Steve Jobs resigns but it looks like work is the last thing concerning him and his family.
