Kanye West Cries For His Mom
Nov 19, 2007 in Kanye West
Kanye West gave his first show since his Mom passed away in Paris last night. Reports say that he broke down while he was dedicating the song he wrote for her, “Hey Mama”, to her memory. Ouch. That had to have been tough. He apparently started the song, and then broke down while his DJ and band came forward to console him. Why would you put yourself through that? Parisians would understand if you took a pass, dude. Kanye left the stage for about fifteen minutes and then came back to close the show with “Stronger”.
“He was very nervous, seemed to have gathered himself up, and had a lot of energy,” Magloire says. “He kept shouting out to the audience, ‘I need you… I need you right now.’ and the public was screaming back. It was magic.”
Kayne was trying to honor his obligations, like his mama told him too, not realizing that he just couldn’t do it.This guy lost his mother, who was also his business partner, manager, friend etc etc for Godsake. This is the song that he song to her on Oprah. She had this song as her ring tone of her phone and knew every single word to the song. There are plenty of youtube videos that show the two of them performing the song together. So of course when trying to perform this song to honor her it triggered that emotion. I’m not a big fan of Kanye’s rants but I feel that his breakdown was sincere and not a please feel sorry for me moment.
