Leia’s Metal Bikini
Jun 2, 2007 in Star Wars, George Lucas

I have been taking the week out to refresh us on the “Star Wars” trilogy. And sincerely, it was as amazing as ever.
Last night was the ‘Return of the Jedi’ evening - and hell if the f-ing Leia metal bikini/Jabba the hut scene didn’t piss me off AS ALWAYS! Of course, this is one of the most memorable of cinematic moments for the sci fi boy child everywhere of my generation… every boy’s first fantasy. It is so unforgettable that even web sites are dedicated to it! And truly, I remember these first moments of awakening too that I really cherish for as long as I live…
So at that moment in the film, Leia changed from a powerful subject of the story and sucked into the vortex which is our system… And at the moment - I realized that I wasn’t going to get to be a Jedi just like everybody else…the chubby girl from new Brighton that (most likely watched way too many movies anyway) looked to Leia for hope (I was her for Halloween for five years in a line!) was most likely never going to be looking that hot and then I started feeling weird and totally crappy about myself. I could’ve been a candidate! And now my desire is to give George Lucas the middle finger.
